Meet the Designer,   Tracy Shelton

I am a Tennessee transplant who has been blessed to bloom and cultivate in Northwest Florida for the last 23 years. I am a lover of nature and the One who created it. I enjoy the creative process of using the gifts of the environment (flowers and foliage) to produce something lovely, personal, and purposeful that can bring joy to the receiver. I grew up on a small farm in middle TN and my parents could grow anything! They were known for growing some of the best vegetables (especially tomatoes and cantaloupes) you could find in the area. I enjoyed eating the abundance of farm fresh produce, but it was the flower garden that I found myself fondest of. My Dad would often say, "you can’t eat flowers!". However, he realized in his later years that flowers nourish our souls.

The Blooming of V&P

As a gardener I have always enjoyed the art of container design. I love taking plant material that has unusual texture and colors and mixing it together for a beautiful result. Out of a desire to share the beauty of what was blooming in my own backyard I started cutting blooms and foliage and making arrangements to give to friends and neighbors. The response was very satisfying! Using my hands to create something lovely that blessed the recipient and the fact that I could use a lot of my own cuttings made it even more enjoyable. I use native plant material and locally grown foliage in all of my arrangements to produce a unique garden fresh look.

Heirloom Peonies planted by my grandmother on our     family farm in Tennessee. These were planted over 65    years ago! This photo was taken May of 2016.

Favorite Flower

This is a difficult task to choose just one….but it would have to be the Peony. With its beautiful showy blooms and stellar stems you just can’t beat it for beauty and strength in design!

A definite bucket list adventure would be to visit the peony farms in Alaska!
